As college tuition costs continue to rise, scholarship money becomes more critical to keeping out-of-pocket costs down. The COMMON Education Foundation offers two tuition scholarships a year to full and part-time students at an accredited institution of higher education (two- or four-year college or graduate program). Scholarships, in the amount of $1,000 each, may not be the biggest scholarships out there, but they can help with the costs of books, fees and more.
Offered twice a year, one for the Fall Semester and one for the Spring Semester, the COMMON Education Foundation tuition scholarship is awarded to applicants that are referred and sponsored by a COMMON member. Funds are provided by donations from COMMON Members, Member Companies affiliated with COMMON, scholarships named in honor of donors, and other fundraising activities. Submissions are based on academic performance, and the quality of a letter from the applicant stating how he/she would benefit from the scholarship.
If you are a COMMON Member and know of someone who should be considered for a tuition scholarship, please have them apply on the COMMON Education Foundation website and include the following materials:
1. Current official school transcript showing Grade Point Average.
2. Signature of sponsor (COMMON Member or Affiliate).
3. Letter explaining how and why you would benefit from this scholarship.
4. Letter of recommendation on school letterhead from Department Head and/or Professor within major or minor discipline.
The Fall semester scholarship deadline is rapidly approaching May 31. The Spring Semester application deadline is October 31. If you have any questions regarding your application or the process, please contact Kelly Lorr at klorr@commoneducationfoundation.org
